5 SIGNS THAT ITS TIME TO UPGRADE YOUR PRINTER
When you’re looking for the perfect office printer, it can be hard to know when to upgrade. Whether your business has grown, or you have simply outgrown your current device, we’ve compiled five signs that it might be time for a new multifunctional printer.
1. Your old office printer is running slower than ever before.
Employees are complaining about the wait or there is always a line at the printer, means that that the printer is not keeping up with your needs. MFPs, copiers, and printers measure their speed as pages per minute (ppm). While some will print 20 pages per minute, others will print over 50 pages per minute. The needs of your office will determine the speed of machine you need. Are you producing a lot of marketing collateral, printing legal documents, or do you have a lot of employees using the printer? These can all necessitate a faster printer. If your current machine is slowing your organization down, then it is time to upgrade.
2. You need better quality prints.
Faded colors, ink blotches, or streaks can be frustrating especially if your business is printing marketing/advertising-related materials and need higher quality prints. Some businesses need high quality images in robust colors that a black and white printers or older color printers cannot handle. Special sized projects can also be difficult with older printers. If your print quality or projects are lacking due to your printer, its time to update your printer.
3. Buying replacement parts becomes an expensive habit rather than an occasional purchase.
As printers age, some components can be hard to find resulting in an expensive replacement. New multifunctional printers are made with long-lasting components which do not need to be replaced as often. If you feel as though you have been servicing parts regularly, its time to upgrade.
4. Out of date technology or features.
Computer and printer crashes or downtime costs your organization time and money. Having your IT dept continuously fixing old tech is a drag on resources. Plus, using old technology can open your business up to security vulnerabilities which can result in legal and regulatory compliance risks. Unfortunately, printers or MFPs can easily be forgotten about when security measures are implemented. If your device-level protection, authentication, and software is out-of-date, it’s time to upgrade your MFP.
5. Your lease is up.
As the end of the lease gets closers you usually have a couple of options to think about – whether to buy it out or lease a new machine. You may be able to continue monthly payments but it usually makes sense to upgrade by taking on a new lease payment and getting a new printer with up-to-date technology and features.
When you’re looking for the perfect office printer, it can be hard to know when to upgrade. Whether your business has grown, or you have simply outgrown your current device, it might be time for a new multifunctional printer.
